Alfred walks through the arena lobby and walks over to the front desk. He then asks for directions to his locker room, and is given a key for it. He thanks the man and shakes his hand before turning and heading for a hallway to the left of the desk. He heads down passing doors on his left and right every 10 feet or so, then at the very end of the hall, second door from the left he finds a pale green steel door with the name plaque reading "Afred Starr" on it. He puts the key into the lock and turns it opening the lock and then walks in. He's hit with a nice cool breeze as he does so, then makes his way over to the table where he sees an envelope resting. He drops his dufflebag onto one of the chairs before picking up the letter. On the front it read "For the eyes of Alfred Starr only" and then below that it showed the names "Chairman Christopher Mackison and President Archibald Masterson, then a list of their phone numbers and email addresses. He uses his index finer to open the envelope and then pulled out the very professional looking letter. He moved over toward the couch and took a seat as he read.
"Alfred Starr,
We would like to personally welcome you to the Real Wrestling Federation (RWF) and to let you know that we are very excited and privileged to have you here. We know that you have a lot of potential and promise with all of your achievements thus far in your very young wrestling career and we just look forward to seeing you grow into the wrestler that everyone knows you can be.
We hope the locker room is to your liking and if you need anything, Joseph Raltz at the front desk will be happy to assist you.
Also, we hope this is of no inconvenience but Pro Wrestling Illustrated asked us if they could do an article on you for their Top 25 Up-And-Coming Rookies to watch, and seeing is they want you in at Number 1, we couldn't turn them down. It is a tremendous honor and we feel like you are well deserving of it. They should be there around 4:30PM.
Once again, we look forward to seeing you in the ring and Welcome to the RWF. You made it!
Thank you, Chairman- Christopher Mackison President- Archibald Masterson"
Alfred finishes up reading and can't help but smile to himself as he finally just starts to take it all in. His success so far, where he's come from to where he is now, he feels truly blessed. It then hits him that when he walked into the arena the wall clock had read 4:10 and he quickly rushes to get cleaned up. He grabs his dufflebag on the way back to the changing room where he finds most of his belongings and clothing had been placed in an orderly fashion. He then removes the picture frame with him mom's signed picture in it and places it on the desk so that you can see it right as you walk in the door. He then takes out a couple of the trophies and certificates he had earned so far and walked over to a white book shelf and placed them at the top shelf evenly spaced apart. He then pulled his cell phone out and checked it to see he had about 5 minutes left so he left the rest of the dufflebag's contents on inside and went over to change. He quickly changed into a button up shirt and some casual dress pants to match, followed with some nice shoes. He then, gave a little spritz of cologne to his chest and then to his neck and then smirked as he also spritzed some on the crotch of his pants mumbling "ya never know" to himself as he does it. He then re-pockets his phone and heads out of the dressing room, closing the door behind him. Alfred then opens the door and heads out into the hallway, and as soon as he shuts the door, waiting behind it are 2 men and a woman all with notebooks, and another man with a recording device, holding out as they all begin to question him. At first it's just a bunch of jabber, multiple questions at once and then he solos them out.
"Alfred! Alfred over here! We'd like to know, how are taking all of this success so far, with the wrestling schools and the UWA, how does it feel? Is it something you expect of yourself? Or is it all just a pleasant surprise for you?" One of the male reporters asked, looking eager with his pen and notepad.
"When you have the inspiration that I do, it all seems a lot easier than it actually is. I work my butt off just like everyone else here, and I by no means think I'm better than anyone else. I just take it all as it comes, ya know? I didn't ever expect to be getting the hype I am now, though. So I guess you could call it a pleasant surprise, yeah." Alfred answers thinking to himself that he drew that answer on way too long, then is poked at with questions from the others.
"Alfred, it's been rumored that Chairman Mackison and President Masterson handpicked you themselves. How does it feel that two of the most successful businessmen of their time, who plan on having the most successful wrestling federation of all time, handpicked you themselves and are possibly discussing you as their "face" of the company" the woman reporter asks, doing quotations with her hands as she says face.
"Well, it's a true honor, just like anywhere else that would have chosen me. I'm not sure where all the face of the company rumors have come from, but I will give it all I got here and hope that they recognize that. It's all I can ask for." He answers with a timid smile.
"Mr. Starr, Your up-and-coming opponent is one Matt Sydal, formally known as Evan Bourne from the WWE. From his segment earlier today, he mentioned you as being a natural in the wrestling world. Coming from someone of his background and experience, how does that make you feel? And how are you feeling about the match?" the 1st male reporter asks again, all of the reporters jotting in their notepads almost the entire time anyone is talking.
"For Matt Sydal to say something like that is a true honor. I've admired the guy his entire career and I hope to take whatever I can from the match as a learning experience and better myself from it. I definitely hope to earn some respect here, so I'm not seen as just a rookie, but as an equal and if anyone's respect means something, it's Sydal's." Starr says, meaning every word he says.
"Alfred, a lot of people would say that your winning of the UWA title was your most cherishable moment in your career so far. Would you agree with that?" the 2nd reporter asks in a very quick but deep voice that surprises all of them.
"Actually I'd have to say my most memorable or cherishable moment, as you put it, would have to be the first time I won it. It was the first moment I've held gold, the first moment I really felt like "hey, I belong in this business" and you always feel good when you beat a guy who's nickname is "The Unbeatable". It was an all around great experience." Starr answered, recalling the moments in his mind.
"Mr. Starr, one last question. Earlier you mentioned an inspiration that makes everything easier on you. What is it that drives you and inspires you? the woman reporter asked, looking at him over her librarian-looking glasses.
Alfred took a couple deep breaths, then swallowed down the big lump in his throat before answering. "My inspiration is my mother. She passed the night I signed with the UWA. She always pushed me and believed in me through all the ups and downs of my life. She was always there and she always knew I'd someday succeed. She was my biggest fan. I miss her, and everything I'm doing here or wherever my career takes me, is all for her." Alfred choked back a couple tears as he finished.
The reporters then all took out cameras and began taking shots of Alfred. After about 10 minutes of photos, they finally picked up their things and left him in the hall half dazed from the constant flashing.
Alfred stood there for a moment thinking over what he said, and then slightly smiled as he turned back to head into his locker room. He opened the door, then before heading in said to himself "I haven't come this far to lose, ma. I hope you're watching, because Sydal is going down. For you." he then tapped the top of the door frame as he walked in, shutting the door behind him.
